La GDC confirmará la importancia del desarrollo de aplicaciones para los dispositivos móviles.

La acogida que el teléfono de Apple supone para el sector de la telefonía móvil consiguió que, por primera vez, esta conferencia celebrara una Cumbre de Juegos para iPhone a la que asistirán los principales representantes de todo el mundo en la concepción y desarrollo de videojuegos para el teléfono.

La cumbre durará dos días, iniciando este 9 de marzo. El primer día estará dedicado a discusiones técnicas y el segundo tendrá un enfoque en las estrategias empresariales para las compañías que quieren participar en el mercado de las aplicaciones para el iPhone.

Otro terreno emergente para los diseñadores de videojuegos y que gana peso este año en la CDG, organizada en San Francisco (Estados Unidos), es el las aplicaciones de entretenimiento para redes sociales como MySpace y Facebook.

La parte sustancial de esta conferencia comienza el próximo 11 de marzo con el discurso del diseñador Sid Meier, creador de la serie de juegos Civilization, lanzadas mucho antes de que se soñara con plataformas móviles como el iPhone.

Una de las novedades más esperadas de edición 2010 de la CDG será la presentación por parte de Epic Games del programa Engine 3 Unreal, una herramienta para desarrollar juegos que funciones en plataformas de PC, Xbox y Playstation.

La Conferencia de Desarrolladores de Vídeojuegos terminará el próximo 13 de marzo.
